Visualmotive has developed a chart which lets you decide to walk or wait for a bus. This chart is developed based on rule of thumb which says-

If you have to travel N miles, then you only have to wait if bus is less than N minutes away.

This is made by assuming that normally a bus travels at 15 miles per hour and an average man takes 20 minutes to walk one mile distance. If you walk faster that is, can cover one mile distance in 15 minutes there is separate symbol in the chat for you.

By following this chat you can calculate faster way to reach your destination. This will help your body get some exercise and also let you reach your destination faster.

Symbols used in chart

Green man- says walking is faster (20 minute mile)

Blue man- says walking is faster (15 minute mile) (speed walker)

Bus- says bus is faster

Method to interpret chart

The first option 0.1 mile says that it takes 2 minutes to cover 0.1 minute to cover 0.1 mile or one city block distance. So it is better to walk to reach your destination which is shown by green man symbol.

In second option 0.2 miles, it says that it takes 4 minutes to cover 0.2 miles or 3 city blocks. If the bus is less than 1 minute away it is better to take bus. If the bus is 2 minute away and you are speed walker it is better to walk to reach destination. If the bus is more than 3 minutes away then it is better to walk to reach destination faster.
