GIMP (GNU Image Manipulator Program ), the free image editor for Linux, reportedly has a vulnerability which can put your computer at risk.
As reported by SecuObs researcher Simon Budig, the vulnerability occurs when an user tries to process a specially crafted BMP image with the ReadImage() function in plug-ins/file-bmp/bmp-read.c. This then results into an integer overflow which further results in a heap based buffer overflow.

This potentially opens the users system to to attack form remote computers which can target the user’s computer and execute codes in it.This has been reported in GIMP’s latest verion, the 2.6,7 free download.
