How to transfer contacts from Samsung Galaxy S2/S to S4 android phone quickly via Bluetooth/Email

You got new Samsung Galaxy S4 android phone. First thing you may want to do is to transfer contacts from your old phone to new Samsung Galaxy S4 phone. If your old phone is android phone, It is very easy to transfer contacts. It should not take more than couple of minutes. Lets get started.

There are more than couple of ways to transfer contacts from your old android phone to Galaxy S4. You can transfer contacts using Bluetooth, Emailing yourself vCards or VCF file or Syncing contacts with new phone.

Quick way to transfer contacts from Galaxy S2 or any android phone to Galaxy S4

1. Using Same Google/Gmail account
If your old phone is android phone, You probably have contacts in Gmail or Google account. You can check If your phone contacts are synced to Gmail account easily.

On your old android phone like S2, Go to Phone > Contacts > If you see “g” icon next to all contacts, Your Contacts are in Gmail or Google account.

You can also login to Gmail using the login username & password you are using on old android phone to check for contacts in the Google or Gmail account.

If your contacts are in Google/Gmail, You can add the same account on your Galaxy S4 to get contacts. On your Galaxy S4, Go to Menu > Settings > Add Account > Google > Enter same email & password. Your contacts will be synced to your new phone.

b. On your Galaxy S2 or old android phone, Go to Phone > Contacts > Menu > Import/Export > Send namecard via > Select All Contacts > Tap on check mark to send contacts > Select Bluetooth > Select new Galaxy S4 phone.

3. Transfer Contacts to Galaxy S4 via VCF export
If you can’t use Bluetooth for any reason, You can email contact export vcf file to yourself via email and import contacts to S4.

a. On your Galaxy S2 android phone, Go to Phone > Contacts > Menu > Impport/Export > Export to USB Storage > Confirm Export to /mnt/sdcard/00001.vcf or similar file.

b. Download ES File Explorer android app on your S2 If you don’t already have it.

c. On your Galaxy S2 android phone, Open ES File Explorer > Scroll Down to find 00001.vcf file > Long press on this file (Don’t tap on this file) > Tap Share > Email > Email to yourself

d. On your new Galaxy S4, Login to the same email account > Download VCF file > Tap on the downloaded vcf file to import contacts to Galaxy S4.

You can transfer contacts from any android phone like Motorola Atrix 4G, LG Optimius, Motorola Droid Bionic, HTC Thunderbolt, Nexus S, Samsung Infuse, Sony Xperia, HTC Evo to Samsung Galaxy S4.
