LogMeIn for iPhone/iPod touch to Remote Control Your PC/Mac

log-me-in1Saying that the very idea of the LogMeIn Ignition for the iPhone is smart is quite an understatement. Any app that turns your iPhone into a remote controlling device manager for your PCs back home is something more than smart.

The way it works is simple, you need to launch the app and connect to your computers over, ideally the Wi-Fi (alternatively, 3G). You need to first create a LogMeIn account at the LogMeIn website, download the LogMeIn software to your PC and Mac. Then Download the LogMeIn Ignition application from the App Store to your iPhone/iPod touch. Now log in from your iPhone/iPod touch and start controling your PC/Mac.

Once logged in, you can do virtually anything you wish – send a mail, send an attachment, view photos and even access your programs there -all using the iPhone/iPod touch screen. You can also zoom in or out of your PC screen, bring up iPhone’s virtual keyboard for typing and also use the iPhone controls like taping for clicking, swishing/flicking for scrolling etc. Plus, you can do something here which you cannot do even with your desktop computer- change the orientation of your computer screen to portrait or landscape modes. logmein-mac Cool? You bet. There are few better apps to increase your productivity like this remote desktop app does. It also helps you do your tiny bit on energy saving- switching off the monitor while still accessing it. Helps you in reducing the  carbon footprint that tad bit.
