LG is planning to launch an online app store for more global reach and it focus on Asia as it shares a large mobile phone market in this region. After seeing the success of the Apple’s online application store which clearly tells other’s that they lag in the Smartphone segment in terms of applications. In order to fill this gap LG is going to launch its online application store in Asia by the end of this year so that consumers can get access to about 1,400 applications which are available in about 15 languages.

LG is takes the third place in the mobile phone maker list so to stay in the place and to move up the list LG’s new stratagem to launch online application store may bring more customers to use LG handsets. It is firstly focusing on the Asia-Pacific segment and planning to expand its services to the other parts of the world like Europe and South America by the end of the year and increase the number of available applications to about 2,000 by that time.

Improvements in software is taking place rapidly and the mobile phone companies like the Samsung and LG are lagging behind when it comes to software in the Smartphone segment. By the launch of LG Online Application Store LG is hoping to gain a large percent of the market which it has lost this year. LG has seen about 2 percent losses in the mobile phone segment in the world market even though it is producing low-priced handsets, comparatively.

LG did not reveal any plans to launch the app store in the North America, which is the strong hold of the big players like the Apple and Blackberry. From the LG application store now the users can download the application and other contents like that of Apple’s iTunes store such that users can have more functionality and use their phone for various purpose. They can download about 100 programs for free from the LG application store which extend its legs up to Australia in the initial launch.
