If you got Chromecast device like Chromecast HDMI Streaming Player, You might have tried Chrome tab casting feature. You can cast Chrome browser tab to TV from your Computer. I tried it. It is very slow and not reliable. Tab casting is beta feature.
Even though Chromecast supports 1080p video, Tab Casting is limited to maximum of 720p. It depends on your Computer configuration.
If you want to get 720p video quality on the TV, you need to have latest computer or laptop. For Windows 7, Windows 8 computers, You need to have Core i5 at least. For Apple OS X 10.6 or later, You need to have Macbook Pro 2011 or newer, Macbook Air 2012 or newer.
If you want to get 480p standard video quality on the TV, You need to have Windows 7/8 with at least Core i3. For Apple OS X 10.6 or later, You need to have Macbook Pro 2010 or Macbook Air 2011 etc. For more system requirements, look at Google support page.
How to improve video playback on TV with Chromecast & Chrome Tab casting
Depending on your computer configuration, You need to select Tab casting video quality in the Chrome Browser settings.
If your video is not buffering properly or you are experiencing slow connection issues, You need to change the video quality to get responsive playback on the TV.
Default Tab projection quality is 720p (High Quality HD video). You can change it to 480p Standard video output.
1. In your Chrome Browser, Click on the Cast icon
2. Click on Options in the Cast Window.
3. Select Standard 480p instead of High 720p.
Thats it. You may see improved video play back on the TV with this change. As Tab Casting is beta feature, It may improve in the future with better video quality.
