ZIP and RAR archives are most common and widely used archive formats. Most of the web sites provide links to zip and rar archives to download. We may not like to download an archive to find that the file we are looking for is not present inside. In some cases you might find the file you are looking for but you will have to download full archive to get the file. Nobody wants to waste bandwidth and time to download unnecessary files.

Firefox is a popular and widely used web browser. Archview is a Firefox add-on which lets you to view the contents of zip and rar archives before you download. It even allows you to download a single file from the archive without downloading unnecessary files saving time and bandwidth.

Archview currently supports ZIP, RAR and ISO format which is quite enough for normal archive viewing. Install this add-on to your Firefox web browser, it adds automatically to the stats bar and becomes active when you click on any zip or rar download link. It will download a small portion of the file from server and instantly display the contents of the archive in a HTML or XML interface. You can click on any file from the list displayed to download it. Now you can download a 100 kb file that you need from a 100 MB archive.
