Twitter had rolled out new feature called Twitter Lists. Twitter Lists allows you to organize people you follow and also have a chance to meet new people sharing same interests. If you are a tech geek and want to know what other tech geeks are saying about then you can create a Twitter list grouping all your favorite tech geeks in it.

Twitter list is not just a static list with user’s names in it rather you can see tweets from the set of users within the list. By creating a list you can see real-time tweets of the users in the list to know what they are saying about. You can also include people who you are not following in the lists.

You can start a Twitter list for anything for example you can start a list of your family members, co-workers, friends, relatives or just about anything. This way all the members in the list can know what others are tweeting about and come across people sharing similar thoughts.

Lists features can also be a very powerful promotion tool. One can create list in public interest to recommend people, you think others Twitter users need to follow. When you follow a List on Twitter you can see tweets from the people present on the list. There is no need for you to follow people on the list to see their tweets. There might be many reasons you to not follow a Twitter uses, you may not like the user in your main stream or the user might be tweeting too often.

It is very easy to start a new List in Twitter. Just click on the New List button in your Twitter home page then give a title and set privacy settings for the list. Public lists are visible to all Twitter users and anyone can choose to follow them. While Private lists are for your only purpose, no one can view them or follow them. Only you can view and add people to private lists created by you.

You can add up to 500 users in a list and at present Lists are limited to 20 per user. It is very easy to add people to a list, it is more or less same as following users on Twitter, you need to do this from inside the list. Lists that you have created and following appear in the lists section on your Twitter home page to help you manage them better.

Click on any list in your account to load tweet stream of all the users of the list. If you have created a list, you can edit its title or privacy settings at any time by clicking on the edit link on the page. To delete a list just click on the delete link this is self explanatory.

There are number of third party sites (Listorious, TweetMeme, etc.,) offers directory of Twitter lists. You can visit these sites to find and follow new lists to know new people and grow your Twitter circle. On your Twitter profile page you can find link called listed click on it to know about the lists you are listed on. You can always remove yourself from any list by blocking its creator, you may undo these chances just like follow and unfollow settings.
