Apple has released a new refined version iTunes 9 with new and improved features. All iPhone users have to agree that managing applications on iPhone using iTunes is not easy. But this is thing in the past, in iTunes 9 there is app management feature to manage and organize applications on iPhone via iTunes. This user friendly feature allows you to add or remove applications as simple as drag and drop and also help syncing between iPhone and iTunes.

Let’s get started

First you should download and install the new iTunes 9 on your computer and launch it. Make sure that your iPhone OS is also updated to OS 3.1 for a smooth and effortless syncing with iTunes 9. Once you are ready with the latest software’s both on your computer and iPhone, connect iPhone to computer via USB cable.

iTunes should detect your phone automatically or select your iPhone from the devices section. Now click on the Applications tab in iTunes to see your iPhone’s home screen within iTunes under Sync Applications.

To the left hand side (Sync Applications) you can see all installed application using iTunes. In this section you can search for applications or sort them by date, name or category. Checked applications are one that are currently present on your device. Check or uncheck applications in this list to add or remove them on iPhone. You can see applications change in virtual iPhone interface in iTunes as you check or uncheck in this section.

When you are done selecting applications to add or remove to your phone hit apply to sync iPhone with iTunes.

Drag and Drop

The virtual representation of your iPhone screen within iTunes is other interesting features which has opened door for drag and drop functionality. Before, if you want to move applications from one screen to another, you have to do this all on the device itself which is tedious. But with the virtual representation you can move applications around using iTunes with ease and agility.

You can see small screens to right hand side like the one shown in the screenshot above. Select any icon representing applications to drag and drop within the screen or to other screen of your choice. You can also select multiple applications at a time to move them around or select pages to change their order. When you are done managing application hit apply to sync iPhone with iTunes.

With the new features added to iTunes it became more user friendly and amazingly flexible. Now iTunes is not only used to sync music but also applications. Set simple rules to sync iPhone manually or automatically to enjoy all aspects of iPhone to fullest.
