Windows safe mode is a special way for Windows to load if it encounters some kind of problem with normal boot process. This may occur due to many reasons as trying to install new software or hardware. Even though you can start windows in safe mode certain critical functions as installer will not work in this mode. The main purpose of safe mode is to allow you to identify and rectify problem.

You can out smart Safe Mode to gain access to Windows Installer to install software’s in this mode. You can do this by creating a registry entry in safe mode to enable Windows installer.

Follow this procedure to successfully create a registry entry to enable installer to install/uninstall in safe mode.

1. Start–>Run–> type Cmd

2. Command prompt will open type the following command in the window

REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer/VE/TREG_SZ/F/D %Service%

And hit enter

3. Now type the following command to start windows installer

net start msiserver

Windows installer will start successfully

Now you can install/uninstall any program directly in Windows Safe Mode.

Note:

• You can also create registry entry using Registry editor. If you use Registry editor incorrectly, it can damage registry data seriously which might require you to reinstall operating system.
• Before you make any changes to registry arrange for a backup just in case if something goes wrong.

• Safe Mode normally starts up automatically if Windows does not able to boot normally. You can also force Windows to start in Safe mode by pressing F5 or F8 during booting and select Safe mode from the boot menu.
