frozen_firefoxIs your Mozilla Firefox freezes at regular interval or freezes suddenly while you are browsing? There might be an issue with any of the add-ons (extensions) that you have installed in Firefox or the theme. Firefox is one of the best and popular web browser used by millions of users all around the world. There is much effort being put by the team of Mozilla to make Firefox bug free and run smoothly. However they have no control over the add-on or themes developed for Firefox.

If you have installed add-ons or themes from third-party developers, there is chance that any of the add-on or theme might be incompatible or causing Firefox to freeze. If you are encountering this problem after you have installed any new add-on or theme, try disabling it. If you are looking for a quick fix for this problem, switch to default theme with all the extensions disabled.

Check for available updates for all installed add-ons and update them accordingly. Now restart Firefox to see if the problem is fixed. Also update Firefox to the latest version available to fix any possible bugs in the browser.

To use the extension or themes on Firefox, then you must first find the faulty add-on or theme which is causing the problem. This is not an easy task as you need to do through diagnostic to find the culprit.

  1. Start Firefox in Safe Mode, click start –> All programs –> Mozilla Firefox –> Mozilla Firefox (safe mode). Firefox will lode in safe mode with default theme and with all extensions turned off.
  2. If you notice no problem when all the extensions are turned off. Then start Firefox in normal mode by existing safe mode and launch Firefox like you do regularly.
  3. Now try to disable extensions one at a time to find which one is causing the problem. If you have many extensions installed this could take lot of time. To save your time divide extensions in groups and try disabling one group at a time.
  4. If you notice no problem with that group, enable that group, now disable another group. If you have noticed a problem in certain group, now try to enable and disable one extension at a time until you find the defect add-on. There might be more than one defect add-on, try to check all groups and all add-on in troublesome groups. Make a note of all the incompatible add-ons once you find them.
  5. Now uninstall any incompatible add-ons that you have noticed and restart Firefox.

Now you should be able to surf freely without any problem on Firefox.
