Google Reader is a web based feed reader that enables you to read Atom or RSS feeds of your favorite websites. Not only does it enable you to read feeds, but also allows you to share those feeds to different social media sites. This can be done easily by modifying the reader settings.

Google Reader provides you a list of social media sites to select from. But, if the site you want is not listed, it enables you to create a custom link. This method can be used to directly download articles from Google Reader to your computer in PDF format. It is done by sending the URL of that article to a webpage to PDF conversion service like Web2PDF Online. Here’s how you can do it.

1. At the top right of your Google Reader, click on “Settings” and from the drop down menu select “Reader Settings”.

2. In the “Settings” page, go to “Send To” tab.

3. Click on “Create a Custom Link” at the bottom.

4. Use the following to fill the Name, URL and Icon URL fields.

Name : Download PDF

URL : http://savepageaspdf.pdfonline.com/pdfonline/pdfonline.asp?cURL-${url}

Icon URL : http://www.adobe.com/lib/com.adobe/template/icon/pdf.gif

You will see a Download PDF checkbox above “Create a Custom Link”.

5. Go back to Google Reader and open any article. You will see a “Send To” button. Click on it and select “Download PDF” from the drop down menu.

Web2PDF webpage will open in a new tab where your article will be converted into PDF format. Once the conversion is done, you will be asked to Save or Open the PDF.

Download the PDF and enjoy it any PDF reader. If you do not want to use Web2PDF, you can create custom URL’s for any other online PDF conversion tool.
