It will also allow you to backup music in iTunes library easily. Continue reading to know how to backup your music files using iTunes.
Using iTunes backup you can backup media and any applications you buy on iTunes store. To start with the process of backup you need to check if you have all essential tools.
Process to backup iTunes media to discs:
Things you need:
1) iTunes (of course you have it)
2) iTunes compatible CD/DVD/Blu-ray recorder
3) Couple of blank CD/DVD/Blu-ray discs
4) Couple of your precious minutes
1) First open iTunes 8 (update your version if you are using older version for better performance) at click on file at top right hand corner. Select Library and click on Back up to disc from pop-up menu.

2) You will see iTunes Backup window with couple of options
Select the first option by checking the check box next to it to back up entire media or select second option to backup only things that you have purchased or downloaded from iTunes store.
Intelligently they have also included other option - Only back up items added or changed since last backup. Check this box to save space if you have already done back up process.
3) Click on the backup button to start the process. It will ask you insert a blank disc into optical drive to start burning media on to the disc.
If the media data is more than what your disc can store, it will ask you to insert another disc to continue burning process.
Note: These discs can only used to restore media and cannot run on any CD or DVD players.
4) Once the backup process is completed you can then these discs for feature use.
Process to backup iTunes media to external hard drive:
Things you need:
1) iTunes
2) External Hard drive
External hard drives are available in the market easily. Buy a hard drive according to your requirement. This is the best process you have tons of music to backup.
1) Connect External hard drive to your computer via USB. Now you should be able to see it listed in My Computer. Double click on it to open external hard drive folder and minimize it.
2) Now locate iTunes folder in your computer. Right click on iTunes folder and select copy.
3) Open external hard drive folder which you have minimized and right click to select paste. You can see iTunes folder been copied into external hard drive.
You have just backed up your iTunes media to some external source. You can restore this date back to iTunes whenever you want.
