Different Ways To Transfer Contacts from Your Old Mobile Phone to New Phone

Are you worried about losing contacts from your old mobile phone? There are number of ways to transfer contacts from your old mobile phone to your new mobile phone. This depends on the type and model of your phones.

You can transfer contacts from phone to phone using a computer. Most of the phones come with PC synchronize software’s that allows you to transfer data between your phone and the computer. You need to connect your phone to the computer using data cable or other connecting devices like Blue-tooth, infrared, etc., for data transfer. Do not worry if either of your phone has the option to connect to the computer you can transfer contacts using Sim card.

Transferring Contacts from your old phone to new iPhone:

Datapilot is a software that allows you to copy contacts and other data from your phone to the Windows Outlook or Outlook Express on the computer. Therefore, you can copy these contacts to your iPhone using iTunes.

Process for transferring contacts to your iPhone:iphone

1) First, connect old phone to the computer using available connecting devices like USB or wireless connection.

2) Open Datapilot, using Datapilot copy contacts from your old phone to Datapilot on to the computer.

3) Open Outlook and in the contacts option create a new folder to copy your contacts.  Now load your contacts from Datapilot to Outlook or Outlook Express using Datapilot Phonebook Manager –> file –> Export Address Book and select Outlook.

4) A new Export dialog box opens in that select the folder you have created in the contacts options. All the contacts from Datapilot will now transfer to Outlook contacts folder that you have created.

5) Now, connect your iPhone and open iTunes if it does not open automatically and go to iTunes info tab.

6) In Contacts option, you have to check the Sync contacts with and select Outlook and click Sync. All the contacts from your old phone are now available on your new iPhone.

Transferring Contacts from Old Phone to New Phone PC Sync Software:

Now a day’s all the major mobile phone manufactures are making mobile phones that can be connected to PC using USB cable or other connecting devices. They also provide a PC Sync software to enable data transfer between mobile phone and PC. For example, Motorola phones come with Motorola Phone Tools and Nokia phones come with PC suite.

Process for transferring Contacts from phone to phone:

1) Install the PC sync software that is provided with the mobile phone or download the software from the net and install it. Open the application and wait for the message to connect your mobile phone.

2) Open Outlook in the contact option create a new folder to copy your contacts in it.

3) Now, connect you mobile phone to the computer with the available connecting devices and from the PC sync application choose copy contacts to computer. After contacts have been copied to the computer now copy those contacts to the folder that you have created in the contacts option in Outlook.

4) Disconnect your old phone from the computer and close the PC sync application of that phone.

5) Now, open the PC sync application of your new phone and connect the phone when prompted to do so. In the phone PC sync application  select copy contacts form computer to phone and select source folder –> Outlook –> Contacts –> and the folder that you have created and copied contacts to.

6) Now all the contacts form your old phone will be copied to your new phone. Disconnect your new phone from the computer and close the PC sync application.

Transferring Contacts using Sim card:

If either of your phone are, does not have PC sync software or you are experiencing difficulty transferring contacts using the above method then the only option available is to transfer contacts using Sim card.

Process to transfer contacts using Sim card:

1) In your old phone go to contacts options.

2) Select mark all and then from the options menu select Copy to Sim or select one by one copy to Sim if Mark all feature is not available on your mobile phone.

3) Now, insert the Sim into your new phone and go to contacts menu.

4) In that select Sim contacts/Directory and select mark all from the options menu.

5) Now, select Copy contacts to Phone Book memory. All the contacts from the Sim are copied to the Phone memory.

There are some limitations in this process. Not all the details related a contact is copied by this method.
