Did you lose or misplace your Google Nexus 7 tablet? First thing, you may want to do is try to find your lost or stolen android tablet & You may want to disable or deactivate your android device so that your Google accounts or Google Play Store is not used.
1. Try to find your lost or stolen android tablet like Nexus 7 using the android apps.
2. You can disable or deactivate your Nexus 7 by contacting Google Customer Service. Google Customer Service is getting better. You can contact Google about Nexus devices.
a. If you are in USA, you can try calling 1-855-83-NEXUS (63987) for help with deactivating Nexus device.
b. If you are in USA or any other country, You can contact Google using this page. It does not have any option to report stolen or lost Nexus devices. But thats where Google wants you to contact them If shipment is lost or stolen. You can find more about that here (Go to bottom on this page)
Were you able to deactivate your Nexus device successfully? Share it in the comments.
If you purchased your Nexus 7 from the Play Store they can send out a “kill code” so that the thief can’t use your Nexus 7.
If you purchased your Nexus 7 at Office Depot, Staples, or elsewhere they make you call a really bad tech support place in India (the guy talked too quietly and his accent was very strong) for Asus. You are required to file a police report and then email Asus a copy of the report and a copy of your original receipt that you got from Office Depot, etc. After you do ALL that, then they will send out a “kill code”.
But if i already bought my nexus 7 and i lost him after, closed in the box, without turning on for the first time and without configurening my Gmail acoount. There is some way to track it or block it?
my Nexus 7 was stolen, I attempted to call the google help line and have it bricked. They informed me it was not permitted by google policy. Only if it is stolen during shipping, if it is stolen after you receive it and begin using it they call it “a police matter” and will not help you. So, I guess they are more concerned with their bottom line, which is the fact they have already received their payment so why should they care about the customer or fact they are enabling thieves to continue being thieves. I will not purchase another hardware product from them.
Just called to inquire ways to deactivate Nexus 7. It was stolen after in my possession, and they could not give me any information on how to deactivate the product.
The same thing happened to me and google refused to help at all. Really dispicable behavior. I guess the billionaires who run Google don’t care about anything but making more money. I too will not buy another Google product and I urge anyone with a conscience to do likewise. They have replaced the evil one (Gates) in more ways than one.
I just had the same experience as the last two posters. Google Customer Service was no help at all. Plus they sound like robots and repeat everything you say. I can’t believe there’s nothing they can do to de-activate this device. Never again will I ever purchase anything from them. Sucky company, sucky customer service!
I was mugged while traveling abroad and they took my Nexus 4. Google told me LG would help me block the device. LG told me Google would help me block it. It was impossible to get any type of help. I am SO disappointed. I’m pretty sure APPLE doesn’t work that way.
Re Stolen Nexus 7
Contacted Google Play Support (UK No,) to request deactivation of my stolen Nexus, can confirm above responces:
“Thank you for contacting Google Play Support it was a pleasure speaking with you today. As discussed in our phone conversation unfortunately unless the device is lost or stolen during delivery there is no way for us to track or deactivate that device. “
