Do you share your android tablet with your kids? Your Child might have his own android tablet and you want to restrict access to android apps you authorize. Android Jelly Bean 4.2 or later has user profiles option to create multiple user profiles and restrict access. But if you are using older version of android, you are not out of luck.

You can select the apps like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja etc you want your kids to access. They can’t access any other apps or even the Home Screen. You can also lock Home button. If Home button is pressed, It will display custom Home Screen with your selected apps.
You can limit the time your child plays the apps by specifying time like an hour or 5 minutes. You can also specify time of the day when your kids can access the apps.
It can restarts apps automatically If they are closed accidentally. It is good for Kids for all ages including babies, toddlers. You need to enter PIN to exit out of this app so that your kids can’t exit out. I also like that It does not require any registration.
2. Kytephone Parental Control
Kytephone is another free android app. It has few extra features including SMS blocking to allow to send SMS to certain people, Call blocking, Photo Syncing, locating your kids location in real time etc.
These features are mostly for teenagers. You can also use Game Timer to set time limits for games, control apps to access selected apps by parents.
3. Kid’s Shell
Kid’s Shell android app lets you access allowed apps only. To exit out of the app, You need to solve maths question. There is no PIN number to remember. So This is mostly useful for toddlers, younger kids who can’t solve maths.
You can also lock Home button. Paid version has more features like Timer for limiting kids time, multiple screens etc.
Another app for Parental Control is Xooloo Kids. It has similar features for controlling apps, Timer etc. It also Secured Internet for Children feature for safe browsing.
As a bonus tip, Kaspersky Parental Control lets you block websites using categories, block all apps other than the selected apps.
